Tyrosine-protein phosphatase YopH (YopH)

Target
YopH
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Protein tyrosine phosphatase
01

Overview

Tyrosine-protein phosphatase YopH is a highly active protein tyrosine phosphatase produced by pathogenic Yersinia species. It is essential for bacterial virulence, disrupting host immune responses during infection by dephosphorylating key signaling molecules in immune cells, thereby inhibiting phagocytosis, blocking calcium fluxes, suppressing cytokine production, and promoting apoptosis of host cells. YopH is a target for therapeutic intervention to combat Yersinia infections.
