Overview

U1 small nuclear RNA variant 31 (RNVU1-31) is a variant of the U1 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), a core component of the U1 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex[7][8]. U1 snRNA and its variants are central non-coding RNAs that function as part of the spliceosome, where they are involved in the recognition and binding of the 5′ splice site during pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells[1][3][6]. This process is essential for the accurate removal of introns from pre-mRNA transcripts. Alterations or mutations in U1 snRNA can disrupt normal splicing, leading to aberrant mRNA transcripts, and have been implicated in cryptic splicing events in certain tumors[2]. RNVU1-31 itself is not known to be a direct therapeutic target or receptor for any drugs and, as an snRNA, does not possess enzymatic or receptor activity. It is primarily classified as a non-coding RNA with structural and regulatory roles in RNA processing.
