Overview

U3 small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein protein MPP10 (MPP10) is a nucleolar phosphoprotein that is a stable, specific component of the U3 small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein (snoRNP) complex[1][2][3][4]. MPP10 is localized to the nucleolus in interphase and associated with chromosome surfaces during M phase, closely mirroring the localization of fibrillarin, another nucleolar protein, but arriving at the nucleolus later in telophase. MPP10 interacts specifically with U3 small nucleolar RNA and is implicated in the processing of precursor ribosomal RNA (particularly 18S rRNA) essential for ribosome assembly[1][2][3][4]. It is not significantly associated with other box C/D snoRNAs and is not a major component of other snoRNPs. Its phosphorylation during M phase, and dynamic nucleolar localization, suggest roles in ribosome biogenesis and the structural changes occurring during cell division. MPP10 has no established direct association with disease, known interacting drugs, or established utility as a biomarker or therapeutic target, and presents no recognized safety concerns for clinical intervention[1][2][3][4].
