Overview

RNU6-1046P represents a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA family. The canonical U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) is a highly conserved non-coding RNA that is an essential component of the spliceosome, facilitating the removal of introns from pre-mRNA during RNA splicing[1][2]. However, RNU6-1046P is specifically annotated as a pseudogene, meaning it is an inactive, non-functional copy that does not contribute to spliceosomal activity and does not encode a protein or functional RNA molecule. Many U6 snRNA pseudogenes exist in vertebrate genomes, generated largely by retrotransposition events; they serve as molecular fossils and are not considered functional biological entities or therapeutic targets[3]. As such, RNU6-1046P is not recognized as a receptor, enzyme, or other typical drug target and has no known biological function, disease association, or therapeutic relevance[3].
