Overview

U6 small nuclear RNA 1126, pseudogene (RNU6-1126P), is a processed pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (U6 snRNA) gene family in humans. U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved, noncoding RNA component of the spliceosome, the cellular machinery that catalyzes the removal of introns from pre-mRNA during pre-mRNA splicing[3][1]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-1126P does not encode a functional RNA product and lacks a biological role in splicing or gene regulation. Such pseudogenes are typically generated by retrotransposition events and do not produce active biomolecules[2]. There is no evidence that RNU6-1126P serves as a therapeutic target, nor is it involved in disease, drug interactions, or known as a biomarker. Its only relevance is as an evolutionary remnant, reflecting the history of retrotransposition activity in the genome[2].
