Overview

RNU6-207P is a pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[2][7]. U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved and essential component of the spliceosome, the large ribonucleoprotein complex responsible for excising introns from pre-mRNA during splicing[3][5]. However, RNU6-207P does not produce a functional RNA molecule and lacks known biological, pathophysiological, or therapeutic relevance; it instead represents a processed pseudogene resulting from retrotransposition events, often mediated by LINE-1 (Long Interspersed Nuclear Element-1) elements[7][1]. These pseudogenes are abundant in the genome and serve as molecular records of retrotransposition dynamics, but they do not encode protein, do not participate in splicing, and have no established role in disease or as therapeutic targets[7].
