UBE2F pseudogene 2 (UBE2FP2)

UBE2FP2 (UBE2F pseudogene 2) is a genomic locus classified as a pseudogene corresponding to the protein-coding gene UBE2F (ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2F), an enzyme involved in NEDD8 conjugation and protein neddylation[1][3][5]. Pseudogenes generally do not encode functional proteins and are not considered pharmacological targets. In some instances, pseudogene transcripts may act in regulatory roles at the RNA level, but there is no evidence that UBE2FP2 has direct biological or disease relevance[4]. This target is incorrect for drug development or therapeutic targeting because it is a pseudogene, not an active gene, protein, or receptor amenable to pharmacological modulation[4]. Targeting should instead refer to the actual protein-coding gene UBE2F if biological or therapeutic interest exists.
