Overview

UBE2Q2 pseudogene 1 (UBE2Q2P1) is a non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 17, considered a non-functional copy (pseudogene) of the UBE2Q2 gene. Unlike the protein-coding UBE2Q2 gene, UBE2Q2P1 does not produce a functional protein and its biological role is largely unclear. It is thought to be a remnant of evolutionary gene duplication or inactivation, and may play a minor regulatory role at the RNA level, but there is minimal evidence for a major biological or disease-related function[1][5][6]. It is not considered a therapeutic drug target. UBE2Q2P1 is a pseudogene and not a direct molecular target for therapeutic drugs. If your interest concerns the relevant therapeutic target, you should focus on the functional UBE2Q2 gene ("Ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 Q2"), which is an enzyme involved in the ubiquitin-proteasome system and may have roles in cancer and other pathologies[2][3]. UBE2Q2P1 does not encode a protein and has no established disease association or drug interaction.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable (does not encode a therapeutic target)

03

Biological functions

Possible regulation of gene expression (but largely unknown); does not encode a functional protein
04

Disease associations

None clearly established; no direct role in disease as a pseudogene. The functional UBE2Q2 gene has roles in cancer but the pseudogene does not
05

Safety considerations

None reported (not targeted by drugs)
06

Interacting drugs

None (as it does not encode a protein target)
07

Biomarkers

None directly associated; the functional UBE2Q2 gene might have biomarker potential but not the pseudogene
