UBE2R2 antisense RNA 1 (UBE2R2-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA transcribed in the antisense orientation relative to the UBE2R2 gene. Classified as a long intergenic noncoding RNA, it does not encode a protein but exerts regulatory functions at the RNA level. UBE2R2-AS1 is significantly upregulated in several cancer types, including prostate cancer, where it drives tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and suppresses apoptosis. Knockdown of UBE2R2-AS1 has demonstrated suppression of these oncogenic properties, suggesting a potential therapeutic strategy. It is considered a potential biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis and is likely to participate in gene regulatory networks through interaction with key oncogenic and tumor suppressor pathways.
