Overview

Ubiquinol-cytochrome c reductase hinge protein pseudogene 4 (UQCRHP4) is a human pseudogene related to complex III of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Unlike functional protein-coding genes, UQCRHP4 does not produce a protein and has no enzymatic, transport, receptor, or signaling activity. Pseudogenes arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events but accumulate mutations that disable their coding potential, rendering them non-functional. UQCRHP4 is therefore not considered a molecular target in drug discovery, disease association, or therapeutic applications. There is no evidence that UQCRHP4 encodes a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other therapeutic target, and no literature supports its involvement in biological processes or disease roles. This entry is best classified as a non-target pseudogene and is not relevant for most applications in drug development or molecular biology.

None (as there is no protein product, there are no mechanisms of action relevant to drug targeting)

03

Biological functions

None (no known biological function as a pseudogene)
04

Disease associations

None established (not implicated in any disease role; pseudogenes may occasionally be referenced in genomics studies related to gene regulation, but direct disease association is not described for UQCRHP4)
05
