Ubiquinol-cytochrome c reductase subunit pseudogenes, such as ENSG00000234041, are non-functional genomic sequences derived from genes encoding subunits of mitochondrial complex III (also known as the cytochrome bc1 complex or ubiquinol-cytochrome c oxidoreductase)[5]. Pseudogenes do not encode functional proteins and are not implicated in therapeutic targeting, disease roles, or drug interactions. Their presence is mainly of interest in genomic annotation and evolutionary studies, but they have no direct clinical or biological significance as molecular targets.
