UBA52P9 is a **processed pseudogene** derived from the UBA52 gene, which normally encodes a fusion protein comprising ubiquitin and ribosomal protein L40[1][4][5]. The parent UBA52 gene plays essential roles in protein degradation and ribosome assembly in eukaryotic cells, but UBA52P9 itself does not encode a functional protein due to its pseudogene status[5][8]. The human genome contains many such processed pseudogenes of ribosomal proteins, which are generally considered non-functional remnants without known biological effects, although in rare cases pseudogenes can have regulatory roles at the RNA level[2]. There is no evidence UBA52P9 is involved in any disease, serves as a therapeutic target, or is of pharmacological interest.
