Ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 D3 pseudogene 4 (UBE2D3P4) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 13q31[3]. It is a non-functional, genomic copy related to the UBE2D3 gene, which encodes an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme involved in protein ubiquitination, but UBE2D3P4 itself does not produce a functional protein, and there is no evidence of physiological or pathophysiological role for this pseudogene. Other pseudogenes in the ubiquitin gene family have been shown to be transcribed or rarely translated into variant proteins, but there is no evidence in the literature or current gene/protein databases for UBE2D3P4 encoding a functional product or having biological or therapeutic relevance[3][5]. Summary judgment: UBE2D3P4 is a non-expressed pseudogene and not a relevant drug target. Caution should be exercised to avoid confusion with the functional parent gene, UBE2D3, which is a research target involved in protein ubiquitination and linked to disease, but is distinct from this pseudogene[2][3][5].
