Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2D 2 pseudogene (ENSG00000232576) is a DNA segment in the human genome that structurally resembles the UBE2D2 gene but is classified as a pseudogene. Pseudogenes may arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition events, resulting in a DNA region that has lost the ability to code for a functional protein, often due to disabling mutations or absence of necessary gene regulatory elements. While some pseudogenes can be transcribed into RNA and may participate in gene regulation or act as miRNA decoys, the majority—including this pseudogene—lack defined functional or disease roles and are not considered drug targets.
