Overview

Ubiquitin family domain containing 1 (UBFD1) is a protein-coding gene encoding a ubiquitin domain-containing protein, sometimes known as a ubiquitin-binding protein homolog[3][12]. UBFD1 may play a role as a regulator of NF-kappa-B, a transcription factor central to inflammation and immune regulation[1][12]. It is annotated as having RNA binding and cadherin binding activity[11][3]. UBFD1 has recently been identified as an independent risk factor and prognostic biomarker in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer, with higher expression correlating to poorer prognosis; its functional associations include hormone activity and inflammation[2]. Although UBFD1 interacts in cellular networks involving components of the 26S proteasome, it is not currently linked to direct drug targeting or to specific drug mechanisms[1][2][3][12]. There are no known safety concerns from targeting UBFD1, and its classification is as an "Other" molecular family protein rather than a classic enzyme, receptor, or ion channel.
