Ubiquitin-specific protease 1

Molecular classification
Deubiquitinating enzyme, Cysteine protease
01

Overview

Ubiquitin-specific protease 1 (USP1) is a deubiquitinating enzyme that plays a crucial role in regulating protein stability and function by removing ubiquitin moieties from target proteins. USP1 is particularly important for DNA damage repair and cell cycle regulation. Overexpression or dysregulation of USP1 has been linked to various cancers, while its inhibition has shown therapeutic potential in diseases like diabetes by inhibiting DNA damage-induced pancreatic β-cell apoptosis.
