UBX domain-containing protein 7 (UBXN7) is a human ubiquitin-binding adapter protein that links a subset of NEDD8-associated cullin ring ligases (CRLs) to the VCP/p97 segregase, thereby regulating the turnover of ubiquitinated substrate proteins. It functions within the ubiquitin-proteasome system, facilitating the degradation of target proteins and modulating cellular responses to proteotoxic stress. UBXN7 is localized primarily in the nucleoplasm and is part of the VCP-NPL4-UFD1 ATPase complex. Mutations in the UBXN7 gene have been associated with rare genetic disorders and may influence cancer-related pathways due to its regulatory role in protein degradation[1][3][8]. No drugs are currently known to target UBXN7 directly, and it is not a therapeutic target as of current scientific consensus.
