UFD1 antisense RNA 1 (UFD1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene that is transcribed in the antisense direction to the protein-coding UFD1 gene. While the detailed function of UFD1-AS1 itself has not been experimentally determined, antisense lncRNAs in general often regulate the expression of their corresponding sense gene through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, modulation of chromatin structure, mRNA stabilization or destabilization, or recruitment of regulatory complexes. There is no current evidence that UFD1-AS1 functions as a canonical drug target or is implicated in specific human diseases— its biological significance and clinical relevance remain to be further characterized. No drugs or biomarker applications are reported, and safety concerns cannot be assessed given the lack of existing therapeutic targeting or clinical studies. UFD1-AS1 is included in gene databases primarily as a lncRNA locus, not as a therapeutic molecule.
