Uncharacterized protein KIAA1958 is a human protein encoded by the KIAA1958 gene, located on chromosome 9q32. It is expressed broadly, with highest levels in the larynx and in certain tumors and developmental stages such as blastocysts. KIAA1958 is a large protein of 716 amino acids, showing extensive evolutionary conservation among chordates and mammals, but with no known paralogs in humans. The protein contains a domain of unknown function (DUF3504), and predictions suggest a combination of alpha helices and beta sheets in its structure. Its molecular functions may include protein binding and potential transcription factor activity specific for RNA polymerase II, but its exact role is unclear. Gene fusion data and overexpression in metastatic cancer pseudopods suggest possible involvement in cancer progression, although direct mechanistic or therapeutic targeting data are not available. KIAA1958 currently has no verified protein-protein interactions, interacting drugs, or established use as a biomarker or direct therapeutic target. Its clinical or biological significance remains mostly unexplored beyond expression profiles and rare disease association.
