UPF3A pseudogene 1 (UPF3AP1)

Target
UPF3AP1
01

Overview

UPF3A pseudogene 1 is a non-coding, inactive genomic locus related to the functional UPF3A gene. It does NOT produce a functional protein, is NOT considered a drug target, and should NOT be used for structured drug discovery/disease annotation. In contrast, UPF3A is a key regulator in the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay pathway, where it acts as a NMD repressor, important for developmental regulation (especially in germ cells) by controlling the stability of transcripts with premature stop codons, thus influencing gene expression and cell fate decisions. UPF3A itself is not a common drug target but is relevant in the context of basic research in RNA processing, gene regulation, and certain developmental or tumorigenic diseases.
