Upstream transcription factor 1 pseudogene 1 (USF1P1) is a processed pseudogene related to the upstream transcription factor 1 (USF1) gene. Pseudogenes are genomic sequences similar to known genes but are generally non-functional due to mutations, truncations, or absence of necessary regulatory elements. USF1P1 does not code for a functional protein and is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or signaling molecule. Although some pseudogenes can regulate gene expression by acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or miRNA decoys, there is no evidence that USF1P1 has a defined biological function or disease association in humans. Its primary relevance is as a non-coding genomic feature related to the USF1 gene, which is a well-studied transcription factor involved in metabolism and disease, but the pseudogene itself is not used for patient selection, targeted drug development, or clinical biomarker assays[2][3][4].
