Overview

URB1 antisense RNA 1 (URB1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 12 or 21, described as an antisense transcript to the URB1 locus[1][2]. It does not encode a protein but is involved in the regulation of gene expression through ceRNA mechanisms and transcriptional modulation. URB1-AS1 has been implicated in cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, and migration. Its dysregulation has been reported in various cancers, where it may function either as a tumor promoter or suppressor depending on context. Its complex and context-dependent roles are still under investigation, and it is not currently considered a conventional therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter[2].
