Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Receptor-Associated Protein (uPARAP)

Target
uPARAP
Molecular classification
Transmembrane endocytic receptor, Mannose receptor
01

Overview

Urokinase plasminogen activator receptor-associated protein (uPARAP), also known as Endo180 or mannose receptor, C type 2, is a 180-kDa transmembrane endocytic receptor. It mediates the binding, internalization, and degradation of collagen from the extracellular matrix, playing a crucial role in tissue remodeling, particularly in the lung. uPARAP is expressed in mesenchymal cells, especially fibroblasts, and its expression can be downregulated by cytokines such as TGFβ, TNFα, and IL‑1. It represents a potential therapeutic target for modulating fibrosis and abnormal tissue remodeling processes.
