Overview

USP9Y pseudogene 6 (USP9YP6) is an inferred pseudogene on the human Y chromosome, presumably related by sequence homology to USP9Y, which encodes a deubiquitinating enzyme involved in spermatogenesis[3][1]. Pseudogenes such as USP9YP6 do not encode functional proteins and typically lack documented biological activities, disease associations, or utility as therapeutic targets[2][5]. Some pseudogenes have been found to regulate the expression of their parent genes or to produce noncoding transcripts involved in gene regulation, but no such functional evidence exists for USP9YP6[2]. USP9Y pseudogenes are identified through bioinformatics sequence annotation efforts and are not considered actionable in genomic medicine or drug discovery[5]. USP9YP6 is a non-functional pseudogene related to USP9Y, misclassified as a biological target. There is no evidence it acts as a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target, and it should not be considered in the context of drug interactions, disease mechanisms, or biomarker development[2][5].
