Overview

UST antisense RNA 1 (UST-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed in the antisense orientation relative to the UST gene (which encodes uronate sulfotransferase in humans). Like other antisense lncRNAs, UST-AS1 is presumed to play a regulatory role for its overlapping sense gene, potentially influencing UST gene expression at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level. In general, antisense lncRNAs can act through mechanisms such as chromatin remodeling, modulation of RNA stability, or interference with transcription of the sense gene[1][3]. There are no published data directly linking UST-AS1 to disease, known functions, or any therapeutic interventions. If you require information on a different transcript, such as C1QTNF1-AS1 or UXT-AS1, those are separate unrelated antisense lncRNAs with their own biological context[5][7].
