"Uterine viscosity" does not refer to a discrete molecular entity, protein, enzyme, receptor, or therapeutic target. Rather, it describes the physical property of viscosity (thickness or resistance to flow) within uterine and related reproductive tract fluids, notably cervical mucus. The viscosity of these fluids is a function of their biochemical composition, including mucins (large glycoproteins), proteins, ionic content, and is directly influenced by hormonal regulation (e.g., estrogen reduces viscosity, progesterone increases viscosity). Changes in viscosity play crucial biological roles in fertility by mediating sperm transport and serving as a barrier to pathogens, and they vary throughout the menstrual cycle and pregnancy[1][2][3][5]. However, "uterine viscosity" itself is not a synonym for a biomolecular target, and as such, cannot be used to identify a specific receptor or molecule for drug targeting or structured information extraction.
