Overview

UXT antisense RNA 1 (UXT-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is transcribed antisense to the protein-coding gene UXT. Like other natural antisense lncRNAs, UXT-AS1 does not encode a protein but may regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally. UXT-AS1 has been found to be significantly upregulated in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and acts as an oncogene in colorectal cancer. Elevated expression of UXT-AS1 is associated with poor prognosis in pancreatic cancer, potentially by modulating immune-related pathways, cell adhesion, and nuclear factor kappa beta signaling. Computational analyses have linked UXT-AS1 transcriptomic effects to drugs such as quipazine and terazosin, but no direct mechanism of drug/lincRNA binding is known. UXT-AS1 can serve as a prognostic biomarker in certain cancers but is not currently considered a classical drug target such as a receptor or enzyme[2][3][4].
