VISTA is a type I transmembrane protein that functions as an immune checkpoint regulator. It is highly expressed on hematopoietic cells, especially myeloid cells, and plays a critical role in modulating immune responses by inhibiting T cell activation and maintaining peripheral tolerance. Overexpression in the tumor microenvironment contributes to tumor immune evasion, making it a promising target for next-generation immunotherapies.
