Target intelligence / Profile preview
V-type proton ATPase subunit d2 (ATP6V0D2) is a protein component of the V0 sector of vacuolar H+-ATPases (V-ATPases), multi-subunit enzymes responsible for acidifying intracellular organelles and, in some cells, the extracellular environment. This subunit is involved in proton transport driven by ATP hydrolysis, which is crucial for processes such as endocytosis, protein degradation, and bone resorption. ATP6V0D2 is highly expressed in osteoclasts and regulates bone formation and remodeling, as well as being implicated in cancer cell survival and progression. Dysfunction or altered expression of ATP6V0D2 has been associated with diseases such as cancer and distal renal tubular acidosis, making it a potential therapeutic target in oncology and bone diseases[1][2][5].
Inhibition of proton translocation (prevents acidification of organelles or extracellular environment, induces apoptosis or impairs cancer cell survival, inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption)
