Overview

LcrV is a multifunctional protein produced by Yersinia pestis, the bacterium responsible for plague. It regulates and facilitates the secretion and translocation of effector proteins (Yops) via the type III secretion system (T3SS). LcrV modulates host immune responses and is a potent protective antigen, making it a vaccine candidate.
