Overview

The vaccine-induced immune response is the series of innate and adaptive immunological events arising when a vaccine introduces a pathogen-derived antigen or genetic blueprint into the host. This process involves activation of the innate immune system (e.g., dendritic and other antigen-presenting cells via pattern recognition receptors such as TLRs or STING), leading to the presentation of antigen to B and T lymphocytes and the generation of antigen-specific antibodies and memory cells. The response confers long-term protection and may prevent infection, transmission, or disease. The quality and durability of vaccine-induced immunity depends on vaccine type, adjuvant, host factors, and pathogen characteristics. Monitoring is typically by measuring specific antibody titers or cellular immunity. Safety concerns are rare but include atypical immune responses and, in rare cases, aberrant enhancement of disease[1][2][4][5][6][7].
