Vaccinia Virus Antigen

Molecular classification
Viral Protein, Antigen
01

Overview

Vaccinia virus antigens are proteins or protein fragments derived from the vaccinia virus. These antigens are recognized by the immune system and play a central role in both natural immunity to infection and vaccine-induced protection against smallpox and related viruses. Key antigenic proteins include A17, A27, A28, D8, H3, L1 (MV); A33 & B5 (EV). These antigens elicit both humoral and cellular immune responses and are used in vaccines and research tools.
