Vagal sensory nerve fibre refers to the afferent (sensory) components of the vagus nerve, which transmit information from visceral organs to the central nervous system. It is an anatomical and functional component of the nervous system, not a discrete molecular target suitable for direct drug development. These fibres are highly heterogeneous, comprising various subtypes (e.g., myelinated A-fibres, moderately myelinated B-fibres, unmyelinated C-fibres) each with distinct physiological properties and molecular profiles.
