Overview

Dysbiosis, characterized by a shift toward high-diversity anaerobic communities, is linked to conditions such as bacterial vaginosis, increased susceptibility to sexually transmitted infections like HIV, and adverse pregnancy outcomes including preterm birth [StatPearls, 2023]. Therapeutic strategies targeting this system include the use of antibiotics to eliminate pathogens and live biotherapeutic products (LBPs), such as Lactobacillus crispatus CTV-05, to restore a healthy, protective microbial state [Cohen et al., 2020].
