The variable delta 1 gamma-delta T-cell receptor (Vδ1 γδ TCR) is a specific type of T cell receptor found on a subset of human γδ T cells. It consists of a gamma and a delta chain, with the delta chain utilizing the Vδ1 gene segment. Vδ1+ γδ T cells are predominantly found in tissues, especially at epithelial barriers like the gut mucosa and skin. They play a role in immunosurveillance, recognizing signs of cellular stress or transformation without MHC presentation. Upon activation, they exhibit cytotoxicity. Ligands include ephrin receptor A2 (EphA2) and stress-induced proteins like MICA/B. Their unique antigen recognition properties make them attractive targets for cancer immunotherapy.
