Consequently, it does not represent a specific, druggable molecular target in the traditional sense of a single receptor or enzyme.
Antigens are recognized by B-cell receptors (antibodies) and T-cell receptors, leading to clonal expansion, cytokine release, and the establishment of immunological memory.
