Vascular endothelial growth factor A165 (VEGF-A165) is a major isoform of VEGF-A, a key signaling protein involved in both physiological and pathological angiogenesis. It stimulates proliferation, migration, and survival of vascular endothelial cells and induces angiogenesis. VEGF-A165 acts primarily through binding to its main receptors: VEGFR1 (FLT1) and VEGFR2 (KDR/Flk1), and also binds neuropilin-1 receptor (NRP1). It is a therapeutic target in cancer, with several anti-cancer therapies designed to inhibit its function.
