Target intelligence / Profile preview
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor B (VEGF-B) is a member of the VEGF family. Unlike VEGF-A, it primarily supports the maintenance of newly formed blood vessels under pathological conditions and has significant neuroprotective functions. It regulates endothelial uptake and transport of fatty acids in heart and skeletal muscle tissue. It binds to FLT1/VEGFR-1 and interacts with Neuropilin-1 and Neuropilin-2.
Acts as a ligand for FLT1/VEGFR-1 receptor to modulate endothelial cell function and fatty acid transport. Interacts with Neuropilin-1 and Neuropilin-2 to modulate its activity.
