Overview

"Vascular endothelium function modulation" does not refer to a single molecule or canonical therapeutic target. Instead, it describes the collective ability to regulate and alter the physiological activities performed by endothelial cells, which line all blood vessels. The healthy endothelium maintains vascular homeostasis by sensing hemodynamic changes and releasing vasoactive substances such as nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin. Disruption in these functions—termed "endothelial dysfunction"—predisposes individuals to vasoconstriction, inflammation, thrombosis, impaired coagulation/fibrinolysis and is implicated in nearly all forms of cardiovascular disease. While many drugs aim to improve endothelial health indirectly by targeting upstream pathways or risk factors (e.g., statins lowering cholesterol), there is no single receptor/protein called "vascular endothelium function modulation." Therefore this term should be considered an umbrella concept rather than an individual therapeutic target
