Vasopressin 1B Receptor (V1BR)

Target
V1BR
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Class A GPCR, Vasopressin/oxytocin family receptor
01

Overview

The Vasopressin 1B Receptor (V1BR) is a Class A G protein-coupled receptor that belongs to the vasopressin/oxytocin family. It is primarily activated by arginine vasopressin and plays a crucial role in regulating ACTH and beta-endorphin release in the anterior pituitary, as well as modulating water, glucose, and salt homeostasis. V1BR is also implicated in social behavior, particularly aggression and social recognition. Selective antagonists are being investigated for potential psychiatric applications.
