Vasopressor therapy

Vasopressor therapy is a clinical intervention involving the administration of vasopressor drugs to elevate blood pressure in patients with shock or severe hypotension. This therapy encompasses multiple drug classes that act on different receptors (e.g., adrenergic and non-adrenergic receptors) to constrict blood vessels and/or increase cardiac contractility, but does not refer to a specific molecule or receptor. Common vasopressors include norepinephrine, epinephrine, phenylephrine, vasopressin, and angiotensin II, which target specific receptors to achieve their hemodynamic effects in critical care settings. It is a treatment strategy, not a molecular target.
