Overview

Vault RNA 3-1 pseudogene (VTRNA3-1P), previously known as hvg-4, is annotated in the human genome (located on chromosome Xp11.2), but classified as a pseudogene due to an absence of expression and the presence of silencing mutations in its promoter[2][4]. Unlike other vault RNAs, which are non-coding RNAs transcribed by RNA polymerase III and play roles in the vault ribonucleoprotein particle and in diverse cellular processes, VTRNA3-1P/hvg-4 is considered nonfunctional. It does not appear to participate in known biological functions, disease processes, or therapeutic interactions[2][4].
