Overview

VENT homeobox pseudogene 6 (VENTXP6) is classified as a retrotransposed pseudogene of the VENTX gene, sharing 87% sequence identity with VENTX mRNA and lacking intronic sequences. It is located at chromosomal region 8q21.11 and resides within an intron of the STAU2 gene. As a pseudogene, VENTXP6 does not encode a functional protein and is not implicated in any biological pathway or disease process. The only functional member of the human VENTX homeobox gene family is VENTX; VENTXP6, like other members of the VENTXP family, is a by-product of evolutionary gene duplication and loss of function, and is not a target of therapeutic intervention[3]. VENTXP6 is explicitly classified as a pseudogene with no known function and is not annotated as a coding, regulatory, or disease-linked gene[3]. The VENTX gene, in contrast, does encode an active transcription factor implicated in hematopoiesis and cancer, but VENTXP6 itself does not share these properties[1][3]. There are no records of aliases or alternative names for VENTXP6, nor any relevant biological, pathological, or therapeutic associations[3]. As a nonfunctional pseudogene, VENTXP6 cannot act as a biomarker, drug target, or mechanism-of-action participant, and raises no novel safety concerns in drug development.
