Overview

Vesicle-associated membrane protein 7 (VAMP7) is a transmembrane protein and member of the SNARE family that localizes to late endosomes and lysosomes, playing a critical role in mediating the fusion and targeting of transport vesicles to specific membranes. It is essential for transporting proteins from early endosome to lysosome, regulating lysosomal exocytosis, and is involved in degranulation processes of immune cells and in cytotoxic responses. VAMP7 has several aliases, including SYBL1 and Ti-VAMP, and is associated with diseases such as tetanus and congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to its functional importance in vesicular trafficking and cell signaling[1][4][5].
