Overview

Vesicle transport through interaction with t-SNAREs 1B (VTI1B) is a membrane-associated SNARE protein that mediates vesicle transport and fusion by interacting with t-SNAREs on target membranes[3][1][4]. It is primarily localized to the Golgi apparatus, endosomes, lysosomes, and plasma membrane, where it facilitates fusion of endocytic, lysosomal, and autophagic vesicles[2][3][4]. VTI1B enables specificity in vesicular trafficking and is critical in processes such as autophagy (including autophagosome-lysosome fusion for intracellular pathogen clearance), cytokine secretion, and immune cell function—specifically antigen processing and presentation in B lymphocytes and lytic granule tethering in cytotoxic T cells[2][4][1]. VTI1B is implicated in certain immunological disorders (e.g., hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis), but no direct pharmacological modulators are noted[3]. Functional redundancy with other SNARE family members, such as VTI1A, exists in some cell types[2].
