Vesicular integral-membrane protein VIP36 (LMAN2)

Target
LMAN2
Molecular classification
Other (specifically, type I transmembrane lectin)

Overview

Vesicular integral-membrane protein VIP36 (LMAN2) is a type I transmembrane lectin that functions as an intracellular lectin in the early secretory pathway. It binds to high-mannose type glycoproteins and shuttles between the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus, thereby playing a role in protein sorting and trafficking. There is no current evidence that it serves as a therapeutic target or biomarker.
