Live attenuated Vibrio cholerae strains are genetically modified or naturally less virulent forms used as oral vaccines against cholera. These strains typically have deletions or mutations in key virulence genes such as ctxA/B (cholera toxin) or flagellin genes to reduce reactogenicity while retaining immunogenicity. Vaccination with live attenuated V. cholerae induces robust humoral responses, including high titers of vibriocidal antibodies. It serves both as a direct target for vaccination against classical epidemic/pandemic *Vibrio* infections and as a platform/carrier system for expressing foreign antigens from other pathogens.
