Overview
Viral hemagglutinin glycoprotein (commonly referred to as "hemagglutinin" or HA) is a surface protein found on the envelope of influenza viruses and some other viral families. It plays a central role in the virus's ability to infect host cells by mediating both attachment to host cell receptors and fusion of viral and cellular membranes.
