Overview
Viral neuraminidase is a surface glycoprotein enzyme found on the envelope of several viruses, most notably influenza viruses. It plays a critical role in the viral life cycle by facilitating the release and spread of progeny virions from infected host cells by cleaving terminal sialic acid residues.
