Overview

"Viral neutralization" is **not** the name of a specific molecule or receptor. Instead, it refers to an *immunological process* in which antibodies—specifically, neutralizing antibodies—bind to viral particles and prevent them from infecting host cells[5][4]. Neutralizing antibodies can block viral infection by several mechanisms, including preventing virus attachment to cell receptors, blocking uptake into cells, inhibiting uncoating of viral genomes in endosomes, causing aggregation of virus particles, or physically disrupting the virion structure[2][3][4][5]. This process is central to adaptive immunity against viruses and underlies many vaccine strategies. However, "viral neutralization" itself is not a molecular entity and therefore cannot be considered a therapeutic target such as an enzyme or receptor[5][4]. In summary: "Viral neutralization" describes an immune mechanism rather than any single protein or druggable target. It should not be listed as a canonical molecular target.
